Ah, buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy. I have fond memories of late nights/early mornings at Denny’s back in college chowing down on biscuits and sausage gravy. I thought it was time to make a vegetarian version. I made some homemade a half recipe of these flaky biscuits on Tracey’s Culinary Adventure to go with them. Yum!
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
4 Trader Joe’s or Morning Star breakfast sausage patties
Salt
LOTS of fresh ground pepper
Your favorite biscuits
Tabasco sauce
- Heat butter in a skillet and whisk in the flour. Cook for a couple of minute stirring often until the flour is cooked a little. Whisk in the milk slowly and bring to a low boil.
- Heat up the breakfast sausages in a skillet or in the microwave. Chop into little pieces. Throw into the gravy and add salt to taste and tons of fresh ground pepper. Cook for a couple of minutes. If you make this a while before eating, you might need to add a little more milk
- Split open a biscuit, cover with gravy, and drizzle with Tabasco!
