Korean Steamed Eggs (Gyeran Jjim)

We had these simple steamed eggs as an accompaniment to kimchi pancakes. I love the texture, so silky! This is the recipe I used.

I’ve recently discovered Korean red pepper powder which I am really excited about. It has a great flavor! So I added a sprinkle the top.

2 eggs
1/2 cup water
Salt
Korean red pepper powder
Sesame seeds toasted
Green onions chopped

  1. Beat eggs, water, and salt and pour into a heat safe bowl/s (I used 2 little custard cups).
  2. Place bowl in a a bigger pot of water so that the water goes up to about 1/2 to 3/4 the sides of the bowl/s.
  3. Simmer for about 10-12 minutes. My guess is that if you use one bigger bowl, it may take a little longer.
  4. Sprinkle with red pepper powder, sesame seeds, and green onions, and simmer for a few more minutes until the eggs are set.
