BLTA (Tempeh Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato & Avocado Sandwich)

BLTA Vegetarian Style

One of my favorite sandwiches hands down is a BLT: bacon, lettuce and tomato. This vegetarian version uses tempeh bacon that you can get from Whole Foods and avocado. Yum!

Sometimes I think the BLT should be called BMT though. The mayonnaise is so much more important than the lettuce!

For each sandwich:
1 teaspoon olive oil
3 slices tempeh bacon
2 pieces sourdough bread
1 1/2 – 2 tablespoons mayo (full fat, preferrably Best Foods)
1 piece lettuce
2 sliced tomato salted
3-4 slices avocado salted

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook the tempeh bacon until lightly browned on each side.
  2. Toast the sourdough bread.
  3. Spread bread with mayo, top with lettuce, tempeh bacon, tomato, and avocado.
