Here is an American classic that tastes even better the next day. Baked spaghetti! I think the key to this dish is a fairly thick and rich sauce. A lovely fresh tomato sauce, while delicious, just doesn’t work here. Prego is perfect because it is a heavy and sweet.
1/2 package spaghetti noodles
1 tablespoon oil
1 onion sliced
2 garlic cloves sliced
1 jar spaghetti sauce (we are particular to Prego for this type of dish)
Maggi Hot & Sweet Chili Sauce or ketchup and red chili flakes
Sugar & salt
Cheddar cheese shredded
Sour cream (as a topping)
- Boil noodles according to package directions.
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Heat oil in a medium sauce pan.
- Add onions and cook for a few minutes.
- Add garlic and continue to cook until the onions and garlic are soft.
- Add the spaghetti sauce, Maggi, sugar and salt to taste.
- Add the boiled spaghetti and stir. It should be pretty saucey.
- Top with cheddar cheese and bake for 45 minutes.
- Serve with sour cream.
