Sometimes you just have to have yummy melty cheesy grilled cheese sandwich. How about adding a little Philadelphia Cream Cheese and jalapenos? I found this great picture of a jalapeno popper grilled cheese sandwich and just had to make it! I actually didn’t look at the recipe, just this picture, and looking at the recipe now I noticed that they added crumbled tortilla chips to give it the jalapeno popper breading taste. Sounds good, but they were great without!
Philadelphia Cream Cheese is hands down the best cream cheese out there. I’ve tried others and they don’t compare!
This makes 2 jalapeno popper grilled cheeses.
1/2 teaspoon olive oil
1 big jalapeno slice lengthwise (take out the seeds)
4 pieces sourdough bread
Butter
1 1/2 ounces Philadelphia Cream Cheese
2 ounces sharp or extra sharp cheddar cheese
- Heat olive oil in a little pan and add the jalapeno until a little blistered.
- Lightly butter one side of each piece of sourdough. Flip pieces so the butter side is facing down.
- Spread cream cheese on two slices of the bread. Top with the jalapenos, then the cheddar, then the other slices of bread.
- Lay in a skillet and cook until one side is brown, the flip to get the other side brown and the cheese melty.
