Look at how pretty this Thai basil is. It is all fluffy and green. If you’re not sure, the Thai basil plant is the one on the left. I am not sure what I was thinking, but I thought oh it can just grow. It will get bigger and the leaves will get bigger and one day I’ll just \u00a0pick a few leaves for some spicy basil noodles or thai curry. Well apparently there is more to gardening than just planting a pot and being excited that the sprinkler waters it every day so\u00a0I don’t have to bother with it much\u00a0(yes, I know, watering is probably better at the soil level, but in our communal backyard the only way to get the plant in enough sun is to put it dab smack in the middle of the grass or in the driveway, and who knows if someone might need to drive down it sometime. So, into the grass it went and under the sprinklers it went). Anyways, I began to notice that the pretty fluffy green leaves were dithering\"\"<\/a>\u00a0a bit…Here is a later picture. The basil is looking so sad, but look at that tomato plant! I think it’s grown! More about that later, today I’m talking about basil. So I finally decided to look up “harvesting a Thai basil plant” and apparently I probably should have done this “harvesting” as soon as I bought the little plant in the first place. Anyhoo, I cut off the stems right above the 1st or 2nd set of leaves. We’ll see what happens next!<\/p>\n
