Just crunchy is good, but when it is a little cold outside, warm and crunchy is even better! It all started with my husband Tejas saying that chaat sounded good. At first I wanted pani puri, but he wanted dahi puri. Mmm, what to do. Samosa chaat! I found <a title=\"Samosa Chaat\" href=\"http:\/\/chakali.blogspot.com\/2010\/04\/indian-samosa-chaat-recipe.html\">this great little recipe<\/a> and we had some frozen samosa&#8217;s in the freezer so it was all set.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2608\" title=\"Samosa Chaat &amp; Channa Masala\" src=\"http:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Samosa-Chaat-Channa-Masala-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Samosa-Chaat-Channa-Masala-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Samosa-Chaat-Channa-Masala-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Channa Masala<br \/>\n<\/span>1\/2 tablespoon oil<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)<br \/>\n1 pinch hing (asofoetida)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n1 small onion sliced<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon ginger paste<br \/>\n1 cube Trader Joe&#8217;s frozen garlic<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon tumeric<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon chili powder<br \/>\n1 teaspoon rajma masala (or channa masala, we only have rajma masala though)<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon amchur powder<br \/>\n1 cup diced tomatoes<br \/>\n1\/2 potato mashed (I might skip this next time)<br \/>\n1 teaspoon sugar<br \/>\n1 can garbanzo beans drained<br \/>\nSalt<br \/>\nWater<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Heat oil in a small saucepan and add jeera until toasty.<\/li>\n<li>Add hing and onions and cook onions until soft and brown.<\/li>\n<li>Add ginger and garlic, tumeric, chili powder, rajma masala, and amchur powder and cook for a minute or so.<\/li>\n<li>Add tomatoes, mashed potato (if using), sugar and salt and cook for a few more minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add channa and a little water and cook for 10-15 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A note about this recipe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I used prepared ginger and garlic in this recipe, but you can always use fresh!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Samosa Chaat<br \/>\n<\/span>Hot cooked samosas<br \/>\nYogurt thinned out with water<br \/>\nTamarind date chutney thinned with a little water<br \/>\nMint chutney thinned with little water<br \/>\n1\/2 small onion diced<br \/>\n1\/2 cup cilantro chopped<br \/>\nChaat masala<br \/>\nBlack salt<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place a couple of samosas in a bowl or on a plate.<\/li>\n<li>Top with channa masala, yogurt, chutneys, onions, and cilantro.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle with chaat masala and black salt.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A couple of notes about this recipe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I like the yogurt and chutneys really cold, so I use refrigerated water to thin them out or put them in the fridge\/freezer for a couple of minutes.<\/li>\n<li>How much yogurt, chutney and such to add it all to taste.
