This (Chinese 5 spice BBQ seitan sandwich was just too good! I used <a title=\"Quick Chicken Style Seitan\" href=\"http:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/american-european-fusion-recipes\/quick-chicken-style-seitan\/\" target=\"_blank\">this awesome homemade seitan<\/a> and the BBQ sauce was so yummy, sweet, sticky and five spicy! I adapted the bbq sauce from <a title=\"Chinese Five Spice BBQ\" href=\"http:\/\/girlsonagrill.com\/recipes\/sauce5-Spice.html\" target=\"_blank\">this recipe on Girls on a Grill<\/a>. Chinese five spice is a such a wonderful spice blend and it&#8217;s available at the regular market too.<\/p>\n<p>Seitan is loaded on a soft toasted wheat bun and topped with a tangy Asian slaw and fried onions, you have to try it.\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">If you like this sandwich, we also love the\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" title=\"BBQ Seitan Sandwich w\/ Spicy Sweet Coleslaw\" href=\"http:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/american-european-fusion-recipes\/bbq-seitan-sandwich-w-spicy-sweet-coleslaw\/\" target=\"_blank\">BBQ Seitan w\/ Spicy Sweet Coleslaw<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">, similar, but without the Asian flavors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fried Onions (Optional, but a delicious added touch!)<\/span><br \/>\n1 onion thinly sliced<br \/>\nCoconut oil for frying<br \/>\nSalt<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deep fry the onions until browned and drain on a paper towel and immediately sprinkle with a little salt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Chinese 5 Spice BBQ Sauce<\/span><br \/>\n2 tablespoons hoisin Sauce<br \/>\n2 tablespoons soy sauce<br \/>\n1\/2 tablespoon ketchup<br \/>\n2 tablespoons honey<br \/>\n2 tablespoons brown sugar<br \/>\n1 teaspoon ginger paste<br \/>\n1 Trader Joe&#8217;s frozen garlic cube<br \/>\n1 teaspoon srirachi<br \/>\n1 teaspoon Chine 5 Spice<br \/>\n1 teaspoon onion powder<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat all ingredients in a pan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Asian Slaw<\/span><br \/>\n2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar<br \/>\n1\/2 lime squeezed<br \/>\n1 tablespoon soy sauce<br \/>\n1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil<br \/>\n1 tablespoon mayo<br \/>\n1 tablespoon brown sugar<br \/>\n1 teaspoon ginger minced<br \/>\n1 green chili minced<br \/>\n3-4 cups cabbage chopped<br \/>\n1\/2 carrot shredded<br \/>\n1\/2 cup cilantro<br \/>\nSalt<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mix the vinegar, lime, soy sauce, sesame oil, mayo, brown sugar, ginger and chili together.<\/li>\n<li>Mix the cabbage, carrot and cilantro together and stir in the sauce. Add a little salt if it needs it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Chinese 5 Spice BBQ Seitan Sandwich<\/span><br \/>\n4 whole wheat hoagie buns<br \/>\nMayo<br \/>\n1 recipe <a title=\"Quick Chicken Style Seitan\" href=\"http:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/american-european-fusion-recipes\/quick-chicken-style-seitan\/\" target=\"_blank\">sliced seitan<\/a><br \/>\nChinese 5 Spice BBQ sauce<br \/>\nAsian slaw<br \/>\nFried onions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Toast the buns, slather with mayo, top with seitan, pour on the Chinese 5 spice BBQ sauce, pile on the Asian slaw, and sprinkle with fried onions!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"social-likes social-likes_notext\" data-title=\"Oh My!
