For Cinco de Mayo we had a few couples over for a little potluck. We made classic margaritas w\/ an orange twist using fresh squeezed lemons, limes, and oranges. The measurements below are after fussing around a few times. First I weakened them a little cause they were so strong! Then they seemed TOO weak. This recipe I think is about right. We also made my mom’s wonderful cheese enchiladas<\/a> and\u00a0homemade Mexican refried beans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

8 cups tequila
\n4 cups triple sec
\n2 cups fresh squeezed lime juice (I used 14 limes – they were fairly big limes)
\n2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice (I used 14 lemons)
\n2 cups fresh squeezed orange juice (I used 8 oranges)
\nSugar syrup (optional)
\nSalt for the salt rim (we get the flakey salt meant for margaritas cause I love salt!)<\/p>\n

  1. Chill the tequila and triple sec in the freezer a few hours ahead of time.<\/li>\n
  2. Squeeze the lemons, limes, and oranges (same day–some people swear that you need to do this right before serving, but that is way too much trouble).<\/li>\n
  3. Right before serving mix the tequila, triple sec, and juices. Add a little sugar syrup if it needs a little sweetening. We used a punch bowl and mixed this all with ice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How to make sugar syrup<\/span>: Mix one cup of sugar with one cup of water in \u00a0a bowl. Microwave for 1 minute, stir, then microwave for another minute and stir. Chill.<\/p>\n
