It wasn&#8217;t really yellow at all! Anyways, this rice came about because I wanted to make enoki mushrooms that we got at the Asian market and I wanted to use this\u00a0yuzu kosho rub that I&#8217;ve had forever. I ended up making <a title=\"Baked Enoki Mushrooms\" href=\"http:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/25\/baked-enoki-mushrooms\/\">Baked Enoki Mushrooms<\/a> and <a title=\"Roasted Cauliflower w\/ Yuzu Kosho\" href=\"http:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/25\/roasted-cauliflower-w-yuzu-kosho\/\">Roasted Cauliflower w\/ Yuzu Kosho<\/a> \u00a0and needed something solid to round out the meal. I found <a title=\"Japanese Fried Rice Recipe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ehow.com\/how_5191395_make-delicious-japanese-fried-rice.html\" target=\"_blank\">this recipe<\/a> for a Japanese style fried rice that uses tonkatsu sauce. I didn&#8217;t have any on hand so I found a homemade recipe <a title=\"Tonkatsu Sauce Recipe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foodbuzz.com\/recipes\/595267-recipe-chicken-katsu-with-homemade-tonkatsu-sauce\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/asian-recipes\/japanese\/japanese-fried-rice\/attachment\/japanese-fried-rice-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2548\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2548\" title=\"Japanese Fried Rice\" src=\"http:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Japanese-Fried-Rice-764x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"764\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Japanese-Fried-Rice-764x1024.jpg 764w, https:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Japanese-Fried-Rice-298x400.jpg 298w, https:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Japanese-Fried-Rice.jpg 1936w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 764px) 100vw, 764px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tonkatsu Sauce<br \/>\n<\/span>1\/8 cup of ketchup<br \/>\n2 tsp soy sauce<br \/>\n2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce<br \/>\n2 tsp sugar<br \/>\n2 tsp yellow mustard<br \/>\n2 tsp rice wine<br \/>\n4 allspice berries ground<br \/>\n3 cloves ground<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon garlic powder<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mix all ingredients together (I use a little jar and shake).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fried Rice<br \/>\n<\/span>1 cup raw calrose rice (or other short grain rice)<br \/>\n1\/2 tablespoon oil<br \/>\n1-2 garlic cloves minced<br \/>\n1\/2 onion chopped<br \/>\n1 carrot cut in small pieces<br \/>\n1\/4 cup frozen peas<br \/>\n1-2 tablespoons more oil<br \/>\n2 eggs beaten<br \/>\nSalt<br \/>\n2-3 tablespoons tonkatsu sauce<br \/>\n1-2 green onion \u00a0sliced<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cook rice in a rice cooker or on the stove. Calrose takes a little less than 1 1\/2 cups water per 1 cup of rice. Cool rice in fridge or make the day before.<\/li>\n<li>Heat 1\/2 tablespoon oil in a wok.<\/li>\n<li>Add garlic and cook for a minute, then add the onion.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile cook the carrot until soft. You can either boil it on the stove or boil in the microwave for a couple of minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Once the onions are translucent, add the carrots and peas and stir until the peas thaw.<\/li>\n<li>Push the veggies to the side and add the remaining oil.<\/li>\n<li>Pour in the eggs and cook for a few seconds, then add the rice and stir so that the eggs coat the rice and vegetables.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle liberally with salt and tonkatsu sauce and mix everything together.<\/li>\n<li>Top with green onions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"social-likes social-likes_notext\" data-title=\"Japanese Fried Rice\" data-url=\"https:\/\/mayabugs.com\/blog\/japanese-fried-rice\/\" data-counters=\"yes\"><div class=\"facebook\" title=\"Share link on Facebook\"><\/div><div class=\"plusone\" title=\"Share link on Google+\"><\/div><div class=\"twitter\" data-via=\"mayabugs\" title=\"Share link on Twitter\"><\/div><div class=\"pinterest\" title=\"Share image on Pinterest\" data-media=\"\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am really not sure why the rice in this picture is so yellow.
